The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award

A big thank you to Rob over at the blog V-pub for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I have enjoyed following Rob’s blog with his heartfelt personalized stories and songs. You will also get to hear some great original music recordings so please do visit the V-pub!

The Sunshine Blogger Award comes along with 11 questions so without further ado, here are my answers:

  1. Dogs or cats? Definitely cats. I understand their mood swings!
  2. What is your favorite cold weather meal? Does Kenyan tea count?
  3. What famous person would you like to ask a question to? Beethoven
  4. What would that question be? I would ask Beethoven what he was thinking and feeling when he composed Für Elise. This is one of my favorite classical pieces. The reason I decided to learn how to play the piano was so I could play this song.
  5. What is your fondest childhood memory? Mortal Kombat competitions with my brothers.
  6. If you could go back in time – any time – when would it be? The 70s so that I could have my hair in a ‘fro.
  7. Name a historical person that you identify with. Florence Nightingale
  8. What is your favorite book? Daring Greatly by Brené Brown
  9. Can you watch the same film over and over? Definitely! My favorite re-watchable films are Hot Fuzz and Galaxy Quest.
  10. Flip flops or sneakers? Flip flops!
  11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself practicing medicine as a doctor, continuing to raise my kids and keeping up with my hobbies, particularly music and writing.

There are so many great blogs out there! It’s always so hard to choose! Here are my nominations for the Sunshine Blogger Award:

  1. Wow! Malaika, thanks for the nomination. Really, I’m… ugh… well… I’m thrilled to know you enjoy reading my(fairly new) blog and thought it deserved a consideration for the Sunshine Award. By the way, let me just say, I enjoyed reading your answers to the questions!

I’m likely not a marketer’s go to person to assess a possible product: my likes mostly comes in twos, multiples even! Hard to narrow likes to one! 🙂

That said, because I think YOU deserve the Sunshine Award (future doctor with down to earth personality, writer, musician, wife, mother with a laser focus to achieve goals and apparently a master Chef too)…

to borrow a catch phrase from the TV show “Shark Tank”: for these reasons, I’m out.

(But gimme some of that energy) 🙂

  2. Thought I bailed out on the questions ugh… ahem, without further ado, for the sake of space and time, here’s one:

    7. The craziest thing I’ve done: well as a Caribbean man, I don’t mind a lil’ spice at all. But out on a date with my wife one evening, at an Indian restaurant, I decided to try the Indian spice with my meal! I remember the server gave me a gentle reminder… newly married, I turned the kind warning into a challenge to conquer THE spice! I remember thinking adding a little too much spice. A short while later, my wife noticed I was drinking a jug of water while trying to hide the grimacing and wiping sweat my forehead (it was suddenly hot). Bravery out the door, I ‘threw in the towel’… 😳

Let me just say, next time, I’ll listen to my wife and heed the server’s gentle warning!

    1. Haha! That’s hilarious Kenel! At least you can look back on it and laugh! It reminds me of when my husband took me out on our first date to a place that makes one of the largest sandwiches in the world. It was delicious but so embarrassing to try and eat in front of your date with things falling out the sandwich. We laugh about it now!😄

        1. For the first time, tried to reply via my iPad and it left out the remaining. It’s a good thing the first comment was nearly complete, or else the ‘crazy’ stories would spill over to the comments sections!

Thanks for sharing that romantic ’embarrassing’ story that is worth reminiscing on. 🙂
