Thankfulness

At our church women’s bible study, we are doing a study on thankfulness that has been so inspirational. It’s been  encouraging to discuss the different things that we are each grateful for, be it our families, beautiful sunsets or the magnificent stars on a clear night. Today, I am so thankful for my amazing, loving husband and sweet, boisterous children. I am thankful that my husband is home with us for dinner every night, that the first thing he does when he gets home from work is roll around on the floor with the kids, despite how tired he may be. I am thankful for the way he looks at our children with such amazement and love. I am thankful that he treats me with such love and respect, even if I’m grumpy or having a bad hair day! My husband is a true gentleman who holds my hand to help me down the stairs and opens the car door for me. He treats me like a queen and I feel truly cherished, even when I don’t deserve it. I love how the children squeal with delight and run to us when they see us. Their love for us fills up my heart in such a profound way. And hearing our son saying “I love you very much mummy”……it’s an indescribable feeling.

I am amazed how our relationships with our spouses and children are such a vivid reflection of our relationship with God: Love, respect, honor, forgiveness, compassion….and let’s not forget, plenty of fun and joy, despite the tears and frustrations.
